The surfschool in Le Gurp was created in 1999 by Vincent Bounolleau. The main target of the school is to teach the surf as well as safe surfing in a relaxed environment. Furthermore, the surf school has been based on the philosophy of "3 Respects"!

RESPECT THE ENVIRONMENT
In the surf school Ze Gurp, we are focusing on teaching knowledge concerning the Ocean, the forest, the weather, the dunes, the flora and fauna, and the coast of the Gironde with all its specific characteristics. We are trying to build awarness for the environment so that surfing and the environment will be able to develop next to each other in safety.

RESPECT THE INDIVIDUAL

Today we are living in a world where everyone values itself most important. No one is really respecting others and relations between humans are often difficult due to their differnces and intolerance. That is a reason for us to  focus on communicating tolerance, understanding and frankness in our classes. This will ensure a relaxed surfing atmosphere, espacially later when being in the line up, and shall enhance as well the living qualtity of each participant.

RESPECT THE MATERIAL

Every sportive activity demands the manitenance and the reparation of the used material. Especially in surfing this is important!!!!

A surfboard is usually quite expensive and semi-complexe in its structure. This is why we are teaching the history and the development of the surf, surfboards, and their materials. This will help to maintain the material and of course show the impacts of different materials used.
